It's Been A While...

So, I know it has been a while since I last posted. Do you ever get stuck and a rut and have trouble getting out of it? That's me.

Let me get you up to speed. Currently, I am looking for a teaching job. As much as I love my current job, I believe it is time for me to move on to what I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. Unfortunately, I live in a college town, so me and every other recent education graduate are all applying for the same jobs. It's incredibly frustrating. How you make your self stand out enough on a resume or application to even get an interview? Moving is out of the question. Chris loves his job at Auburn University...so we're here for a while. Not that I mind, this town has definitely grown on me.

With all of the job searching frustration, I think I have decided to go back to school and get my Master's degree is English for Speakers of Other Languages. At my current position, I have quite a bit of experience with ESOL or ELL (whatever you want to call them) students. It's become a passion of mine for ALL students get the best public education possible. I can't even imagine coming to this country because one of your parents job got transferred and not speak a word or English...how scary and intimidating that must be! I want to make that transition as comfortable as possible for the children.

I am taking the GRE in August, and hopefully I will be able to start school in January. I feel like such a dork sometimes because I completely miss learning. I have always loved school...and I want to learn again. It all goes back to being stuck in a rut. I wake up, go to work, come home, cook dinner, read before bed, and then go to sleep. I may change my tune once I start school, but I'm ready for the challenge.

On a totally different note, I cooked something new for dinner tonight. I got to put my non-existent grilling skills to the test. I made Grilled Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers. Thanks Skinny Taste!

This recipe is Weight Watchers friendly. It is 8 points+ per burger. I thought (and Chris didn't disagree) that they were delicious. Definitely different. As you can see from the picture above, I had a casualty with the pineapple...whoops. If you like burgers and pineapple, try this out. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

Alrighty, I'm supposed to be watching "Lincoln" with Chris and I've got a kitten sitting next to me who wants snuggles. Until next time....

 Blessings,
Jamie
